Trustees debated several proposals to move the July 9, 2026 board meeting before settling on July 1, 2026 at noon. The superintendent explained that the district's executive team would be at a professional development conference the week of July 610 and offered multiple alternatives; trustees discussed travel schedules, spacing between meetings, and whether combining a work session and board meeting in one day is feasible.
Several motions to move the July meeting to July 16, July 23 and July 30 failed to pass. Trustee Henry moved to change the July 9 meeting to July 1 beginning at noon; Trustee Biasati seconded and the motion passed 4 to 2. Legal counsel reminded trustees that a specific time must be set for notice requirements and clarified that the work session time indicated on the agenda could not be changed by the motion, though the board could schedule the board meeting before or after the work session on the same day.
Trustees noted trade-offs: a July 1 consolidated meeting would create a long block of time but would avoid a multi-week gap that previously led to excessively long meetings. The superintendent said staff can prepare materials in advance if the board chooses July 1. The change will be posted as required for public notice and staff will publish the amended calendar and times.
