At its December meeting the Vigo County Area Planning Commission approved a slate of routine land‑use items, including minor subdivision plats, several county rezoning requests and a recommended amendment to a redevelopment plan to create an allocation area for housing.
Subdivisions: The commission approved minor subdivision docket 99 (West Cassidy Drive, file 562025) creating two residential lots; staff recommended favorable primary and secondary approvals pending health department sign‑off and recording within 90 days. The commission also approved minor subdivision docket 102 (East Moyer Drive, file 572025) after staff said the health department had approved and requested a waiver to process the matter under minor‑rather than major‑subdivision rules; the commission voted to accept staff’s recommendation with the usual conditions (road cut permit and recording within 90 days).
County rezonings: The commission recommended approval for county rezoning docket 98 (10530 East State Road 246, Lewis) and docket 100 (10532 East Union Drive, Lewis), both to A‑1 (agricultural/rural residential) to allow farm animals; staff cited Indiana Code standards and the Right to Farm Act protections. Commissioners also recommended favorably for docket 103 (605 Butterpoint Court) to rezone from OS (open space) to RS (single‑family suburban) to bring a parcel previously purchased from the Terre Haute Country Club into compliance.
Redevelopment allocation area: The commission considered resolution docket 105 (resolution 4‑2025) presented by Max Adams of Barnes & Thornburg on behalf of the City of Terre Haute Redevelopment Commission. Adams said the amendment would allow use of TIF dollars to support infrastructure for roughly 50 single‑family homes in a designated allocation area. Members voted to recommend the resolution as the next step in the statutory sequence; favorable recommendation moves the matter to city council for further action.
Across the consent and routine items, motions were generally passed by voice vote; where conditions were cited, staff asked applicants to obtain necessary health approvals, engineering site plan approvals, or permits as required before final recording or city action.
