A city committee on Nov. 24 approved four procurement resolutions, including one-year contracts to continue two cybersecurity tools, a roster of plumbing contractors for water-and-sewer repairs and a one-year lease extension for golf carts at Phillips Park.
Mark Tagap, chief information security officer, described one contract as a renewal of the city’s password-management service with Keeper, explaining that “Keeper…stores all passwords in one place so you don't have to remember them and you only need to remember just the main password.” The committee was told the invoice lists 500 seats, the city has about 380 active users now, and the $29,535.32 one-year contract is intended to provide headroom for additional accounts. Tagap said the city took over administration from an MSSP and will monitor the in-house approach before deciding whether to pursue a longer term next year.
The committee also approved a one-year agreement to continue security-awareness and phishing simulations with KnowBe4 at $25,494.48. Tagap said the platform has been used for several years to run phishing campaigns and educate staff and citizens; he reiterated that the item was presented for committee awareness even though the price is under the city’s $50,000 threshold.
For public-works response work, the committee accepted the annual unit-price bid list for plumbing services used by the water-and-sewer maintenance division. Staff said five bids were received—four from local firms—and described common use cases such as private-service valve replacement, reconnections of curb stops and fixture debris after main repairs. The list will be used to rank contractors for call-outs and repairs.
The committee also approved a one-year lease addendum with Noviler Golf Car Sales Inc. for 72 GPS-equipped golf cars, not to exceed $54,885. Jeff Schmidt, superintendent of golf operations at Phillips Park, said the extension is a cost-saving measure for the golf operations budget and that the department plans to rebid in 2026 depending on the city’s finances. A frequent player who spoke during the meeting said the carts’ Bluetooth and GPS features “brought the experience at Phillips Park up to a different tier.”
All four items were presented by staff, discussed briefly, moved and adopted by voice vote; the clerk recorded four members present and announced the motions passed unanimously.
The committee concluded its agenda and adjourned later in the morning; staff did not indicate any additional follow-up deadlines beyond routine procurement and budgeting timelines.
