Staff from the county’s department of economic development presented legislation and a companion resolution authorizing a $200,000 loan from the Economic Development Opportunity Fund to RPM Tech (Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing Technologies) to convert a barn on its property into additional office and laboratory space.

Presenters said the application was vetted and approved by the finance committee under the county’s Economic Development Advisory Board and that the loan would be coupled with other funding sources to complete the renovation. The terms described in the presentation were $200,000 for a 10-year term at 3 percent interest. Staff said the company, operating in the county for about 20 years, expects to add roughly six to ten new, technically skilled jobs over two years.

County staff introduced Cyrus Itamad Mogadam and Tara Woodfin from RPM Tech and noted HarCo Credit Union participated in vetting the application. Councilors asked about the number of jobs and the company’s history; staff reiterated the 6–10 jobs estimate and encouraged council members to visit RPM Tech’s facility. With no public commenters signed up, the hearing concluded and the council indicated it will consider the loan request at a subsequent meeting.
