Unidentified Speaker (S1) introduced Marissa Miller as the county's new hire in economic development and said Miller will be involved with permit liaison duties and other outreach. "I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce our new hire, Marissa Miller in economic development," S1 said. Commissioners welcomed her and staff noted Miller's background, including previous work at IBM and Pillar and service on community committees.
Staff then discussed the county mulch site schedule: when the county moved to weekend operating hours staff planned to close the site for the winter season after the weekend of the 14th and to publicize that closure. "We were thinking after the weekend of the fourteenth that we would close it then for the season and not set, like, an opening date, but we'll see when spring arrives," S4 said.
Commissioners and staff also discussed Nexis as a possible partner to process collected materials and noted Nexis is still evaluating property acquisitions tied to methane capture. Staff offered to perform an environmental assessment on the property if Nexis proceeds with acquisition; acquisition activity was described as more likely in spring.
No formal decisions were recorded at the work session; staff said they will publicize mulch-site hours and continue discussions with Nexis on possible recycling arrangements. Miller will begin outreach and permit-liaison duties as part of her onboarding.
