Board members were sworn in and officers elected at the Derry Area SD annual reorganization meeting. Judge Hammers administered the oath of office to newly elected trustees Joshua Campbell, Nancy Fendesh, Steve Fry, Chad McIntyre and Clint McChesney, who took seats with terms noted aloud by the official administering the oath.
The board appointed Mr. Lynch as temporary president to preside over reorganization proceedings. Nominations opened and closed for board president; Lynch nominated Steve Fry. When the board took a roll-style voice vote, the presiding clerk recorded nine votes in favor and Fry was declared board president for a one-year term.
Nominations for vice president followed. Nancy Fendesh was nominated, nominations were closed, and the board recorded nine votes in favor; the motion carried and Fendesh was named vice president for a one-year term.
The board took the actions by motion and voice vote during the reorganization portion of the agenda. No roll-call opposition was recorded for either officer election. Following the elections, board members posed for an official photograph for the district website.
What happens next: The board will proceed to committee appointments and routine business at subsequent meetings; the board president and vice president will serve until the next annual reorganization unless the board votes otherwise.
