The Sedgwick County Commission on Dec. 3 approved purchasing recommendations from the Board of Bids & Contracts that include a multi-year digital evidence management agreement for the district attorney and a medical bill-review services contract.
Joe Thomas, purchasing director, told commissioners the recommendation for digital evidence management is to utilize a Sourcewell contract with Axon Enterprise for $3,077,954.40 covering a 10-year period beginning Jan. 1, 2026, and running through Dec. 31, 2035. Thomas said the county will present a 2026 contingency transfer to cover the expense at a future meeting.
Thomas also recommended acceptance of a quote from CorVel Corporation for medical bill-review services for the county's risk-management program. He described the CorVel arrangement as aligning with an existing city contract, with an effective date of June 1, 2025, through May 31, 2026, and noted the county negotiated renewal options; the transcript indicates "four one-year options to renew."
Commissioners discussed the Axon purchase, noting prior presentations to justify the purchase and expressing support for accelerating procurement so the district attorney has needed resources. The board voted by roll call to approve the Board of Bids & Contracts recommendations; the clerk recorded unanimous "Aye" votes.
What happens next: Thomas said a contingency transfer to fund the Axon purchase in 2026 will be placed on a future agenda for formal budget action.
