Don Martin was re‑elected chair of the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 4, 2025, after a motion to keep him in the position carried 6–1.
During nominations conducted by the county manager, a motion to retain Martin as chair was moved and seconded and brought to the floor. An unnamed commissioner said they could not support Martin’s reappointment, saying the county needs “steady, forward‑thinking leadership” and criticizing what they described as a consistent lack of collegial behavior and insufficient long‑term vision. The dissenting commissioner said those concerns would lead them to vote no on the motion; the motion passed with six votes in favor and one opposed.
The board then nominated and unanimously elected Gloria Whisenhunt as vice chair. The county manager announced the results and the meeting proceeded to other business.
The dissenting remarks were limited to the floor during the leadership nomination and did not result in a formal change to board leadership. No formal motion was made at the meeting to remove or otherwise challenge the chair beyond the nomination vote. The commission moved on to adopt its 2026 meeting schedule and other agenda items following the elections.
