At its Dec. 3 meeting the Torrington Board of Public Safety approved a series of procedural motions and accepted department reports for October 2025.
The board voted to open the meeting to the public, accepted the Nov. 5 meeting minutes, and approved the police chief’s and fire chief’s monthly reports. The EMS provider activity reports for October were also accepted after clarifying questions about how 'assist' calls are counted.
Volunteer Fire Department representative Mr. Bass reported 11 calls dispatched and 11 calls responded to in the most recent reporting period and listed upcoming community events: participation in Light Up Maine, the Christmas Village Parade, Santa Express on Dec. 13 and Dec. 20, and a Christmas tree burn on Jan. 10. "So going on a year and a half of maintaining that 100% call response rate," Mr. Bass told the board.
The chair announced committee assignments for the board (fire personnel & budget; police personnel & budget; and a policy subcommittee) and asked for a commissioner to join the Eastside building committee for upcoming station work. The chair also scheduled a joint Board of Public Safety and City Council meeting for Monday, Dec. 15 at 6:30 p.m. for a presentation on the public-safety-complex.
The meeting adjourned following an adjournment motion that passed by voice vote.
