Acting communications and marketing manager Aaron Rodriguez updated the commission on the Veterans Park Brick Program and the Nov. 10 unveiling ceremony.
"The Veterans Park brick program was approved by the city council on 06/03/2025 as part of the 2025 through 2032 strategic business plan," Rodriguez said, describing the program that allows residents to purchase an engraved brick honoring past and present service members. Rodriguez said the city received 47 applications for the inaugural year and staff hosted the first brick unveiling on Nov. 10, with "more than 90 honorees, family members, and staff" in attendance.
Rodriguez said bricks include engraving, installation and a commemorative certificate signed by the city council and are installed around the tree near the military memorial at Veterans Park. He said the city is accepting applications for the next round and referred interested residents to the city page shown in the presentation.
Commissioners praised the event and the commemorative video; Chair Bruton served as emcee at the ceremony. The commission did not take action at the meeting; staff said they would answer follow‑up questions as needed.
Next steps: applications accepted for the next year; staff to respond to any follow‑up questions from commissioners.
