The Northern Lebanon School District Board approved a facilities change order not to exceed $150,000 to address an exterior wall condition at the high school identified during ongoing renovations.

Facilities staff explained the project encountered a painted wall that was assumed to be brick; paint removal tests and other options were explored but the underlying block and structure raised concerns about longevity and load-bearing capacity. "What we've put on the agenda tonight is an approval for $150,000. We anticipate it to be less than 150, but more than the 120 that Gary mentioned," the facilities lead said, asking the board to approve a not‑to‑exceed amount so work can proceed while the contractor remains mobilized.

Board members questioned whether the work was structural or cosmetic. Facilities staff said the issue was "a combination of both" and described places where infill with cinder block or other repairs may be necessary. The facilities team said they have an estimate in hand likely below the $150,000 cap but needed board approval because the amount exceeds the change order committee’s $100,000 threshold.

The board voted unanimously to approve item 8.1, which authorizes change orders up to $150,000 to repair or reconstruct the exterior wall, with funds to come from project contingency. Staff said they expect this to be among the final significant change orders as projects conclude.

Next steps: Facilities will finalize scope with contractors and report back to the board on final costs and contingency status.
