Nevada County staff opened the meeting with a public-safety announcement urging residents to identify and record their ZoneHaven evacuation zone ahead of wildfire season.

Staff directed residents to community.zonehaven.com, where people can enter their address and note the assigned zone for use during an evacuation. Officials stressed that ZoneHaven supplements existing emergency-notification services (Nixle and Code Red) and makes those notifications easier to follow during an event. Staff also noted that if residents lack internet access, the zone information can still be shared through radio, neighbors or door-to-door outreach.

The county framed this message as part of the Ready Nevada County public-education campaign, which focuses on wildfire readiness and encouraging households to prepare evacuation plans and monitor official alerts.
