A Struthers resident told the City Council on Nov. 24 that she had submitted multiple online reports about street and code issues and had not received the 48-hour responses the city’s system promises.
"I have a question about how the reports work with website...the turnaround time is supposed to be 48 hours to hear back when there's a concern," said Brandy Brabant Eisenbron of Judith Lane. "I have reported a handful of things and have not heard back from the person in charge of whichever department."
City staff responded that the problem stemmed from a code update that prevented many emails submitted through the website from being delivered. A staff speaker said the issue was identified after a resident complaint, that the city worked with its office team and planned a reboot, and that the problem should be resolved by next week. "We found out a lot of the emails that were sent...were not sent at all...So he has to reboot and he worked with team office today at noon. So that is all getting fixed," the staff speaker said. Staff also advised residents that they may call the city for urgent matters and said, "Billy returns every single phone call."
The transcript records the staff explanation but does not provide a staff name for the person who diagnosed or fixed the email delivery issue; the mayor (Speaker 4) participated in the response. Officials asked residents to resubmit web reports next week if problems persist and reminded the public that calling remains an option for time-sensitive concerns.
Next steps: City staff indicated the technical issue is being addressed and asked residents to resubmit reports after the fix; no timeline beyond 'next week' was given and no formal follow-up schedule or ticketing reference numbers were provided on the record.
