Fishers Police Chief Jeff Hart told the Public Works & Safety Committee the department evaluated Smith & Wesson and Glock platforms and recommends switching patrol handguns to the Glock 45.

Hart said the department will trade in existing weapons, magazines and related equipment to reduce the net purchase cost. He identified the primary Glock 45 package at a quoted $99,725 and an additional $9,190 invoice for detective-unit weapons to align the fleet.

There were no substantive questions from committee members. A motion to approve the equipment purchase was made and the committee approved it by voice vote.

The approval covers the quotes submitted with the packet and authorizes staff to complete the purchase and trade-ins as described; no further implementation timetable was offered during the meeting.
