The Egg Harbor Township Committee on Nov. 12 honored Sgt. Jody London for more than 30 years of service to the Egg Harbor Township Police Department.
A speaker reading the department tribute said London began with the department as a 911 dispatcher in July 1995, became a sworn officer in March 2000 and was promoted to sergeant in March 2018. The tribute listed training and certifications including the Camden County Police Academy, leadership and supervisory courses, narcotics interdiction and criminal-investigation training. It also noted awards for lifesaving, honorable service, good conduct and marksmanship.
Committee members praised London’s dedication and community engagement. One member said his versatility as senior sergeant has helped the department respond to zoning and township-ordinance issues and to support community-policing efforts. Chaplains Lou Stragala and Kevin Burnett were also recognized for their volunteer support to the department.
The presentation included personal details about London’s family and community ties; the committee closed the recognition by inviting colleagues and family to congratulate him.
