Parowan's board of canvassers met in a special session at 5:01 p.m. on Nov. 18, 2025, and voted to certify the results of the Nov. 4 municipal election, declaring Molly Hollerman elected mayor and confirming council winners.
Unidentified Speaker 3, speaking for the board of canvassers, outlined the group's duty before the vote: "I just first want to express my gratitude to each of you again for, fulfilling your duty and responsibility to serve as ... the board of canvassers," and explained that the group would sign a board of canvassers certificate to be sent to the lieutenant governor's office. Officials reviewed the county-generated report that lists total votes, candidate names as they appeared on the ballot, precincts and vote totals.
Unidentified Speaker 1 moved to "certify the municipal general election as presented in the statistics from the county for 11/04/2025," naming Molly Hollerman as elected mayor with 800 votes (74.24%). The motion also recorded council results including Lyle Barton with 600 votes (27.7%) and Rochelle with 551 votes (25.44%). Unidentified Speaker 2 seconded the motion. On a voice vote the motion carried; no opposing votes were recorded and the presiding officer said, "All right. Congratulations."
After certification, the board completed a motion to adjourn, which passed by voice vote. The meeting concluded shortly after the certification vote.
The certificate signed by the canvassers will be sent to the lieutenant governor's office as the official record of certification. The county's canvass report was presented to the board as the basis for the certified totals. The transcript contains the vote totals as read into the record; the board did not reference any legal challenges, recounts, or contested ballots during the session.
Next steps: the signed canvass certificate will be filed with the lieutenant governor's office as the formal step to complete municipal certification.
