"Aqua will be replacing those lead lines at no cost to the borough resident," Nichols said. He added that if residents do not receive a door knock from contractors, they likely do not have an affected line.

Council members asked how homes will be identified; Nichols said the contractor will conduct a circuit in the street and then approach properties where the lateral indicates lead. The manager said mailed notices and door knocks may be used, and that detailed information will be posted on the borough website.

Councilors pressed for clarity after a resident said she received a mailed survey with a QR code she could not interpret; staff responded that real contractor visits are the indicator and to contact the borough if residents are uncertain.
