The Eden Prairie Parks & Recreation Department previewed a new mobile app to the City Council on Nov. 18 and said the app will be available in December pending App Store approval.
Parks & Recreation Director Amy Markle said the app, built by Vermont Systems and tied into the department’s RecTrac back end, will let residents register for programs, reserve facilities, scan in as members, browse parks and trails, report maintenance issues and view events. "People will be able to register, connect, and explore everything Eden Prairie Parks and Rec has to offer right in the palm of your hand," Markle said.
Staff told councilors the app links to the city’s existing SeeClickFix maintenance reporting system so park issues reported through the app will generate follow‑up messages to the responsible city employee. Markle said the initial work on the app was budgeted at approximately $10,000 and that ongoing platform support will be required.
Council members asked whether the parks app could serve as part of a wider, consolidated Eden Prairie city app that would include utilities, permitting and other services. Staff said broader integration depends on compatible back-end systems and that the parks app is one step toward mobile access to city services.
The council did not take formal action; staff said they will announce the app through city channels when the App Store and Google Play approvals are complete.
