Steve Frevert, executive director of the Historic Valley Junction Foundation, used the citizens forum at the council meeting to announce the kickoff of 'Jingle in the Junction' this Thursday, with a lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. He said the lights are up and the tree will be put in front of the fire administration building ahead of the ceremony and listed ongoing events that run through December. Frevert also previewed Small Business Saturday plans on Nov. 29, including bag giveaways and custom T-shirt printing at Historic City Hall.
Why it matters: The event is a community and business-support initiative intended to boost foot traffic in Valley Junction during the holiday season and highlight the role of local merchants in downtown economic vitality.
Frevert invited residents to attend and support local businesses, saying the activities are made possible with support from sponsors including Bridal Credit Union.
The council thanked Frevert and encouraged residents to attend the lighting and Small Business Saturday events.
