The Bassett Unified Personnel Commission presented its annual report for the period July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025, to the board on Nov. 18, summarizing work on recruitment, classification, compensation and staff development.
The commission reviewed merit‑system responsibilities and said it ran 50 recruitments across 31 classifications (some positions require multiple eligibility lists). Officials highlighted procedural improvements including a classified substitute handbook, better tracking of eligibility list expirations, and efforts to improve communication about transfer opportunities and position funding controls.
The commission reported classification and compensation accomplishments, including salary research for 64 classified positions, updates to 10 job descriptions and completion of two reclassification studies. Staffing highlights included promotions and an increase in permanent positions filled after pandemic‑era turnover. The commission also sought a budget increase to $421,000 to support its work; the board ultimately did not approve the higher appropriation following review and discussion.
Personnel commissioners charted vacancies filled and said they would continue emphasizing training, recruitment outreach and accurate tracking of position funding. Board members thanked the commission for a thorough report and noted its role in retaining long‑term staff and improving operational transparency.
