Des Moines County supervisors on Nov. 18 approved accounts payable totaling $297,338.45 and completed several personnel actions and routine election business.
The auditor reported checks of $212,238.86 and wire transfers of $85,099.59 for a combined total of $297,338.45. "Motion to approve accounts payable claims" was made, seconded and the motion carried with the supervisors present voting in the affirmative.
The board also approved personnel items. A motion carried to approve a new maintenance hire at a starting rate of $34,934.41. The board approved a full-time correctional officer, Bryce Wade, for a 12-month step increase, moving his salary from $51,346.41 to $52,662.04 effective Dec. 19, 2025. County staff confirmed the effective date as part of the personnel motion.
The board approved the minutes of its Nov. 12 regular meeting and accepted the second-tier canvass of local school and district election results; the clerk reported no changes to election outcomes after the canvass.
Votes at a glance: motions to approve the accounts payable claims, the new maintenance hire rate, the correctional-officer step increase, the Nov. 12 minutes, and the canvass all passed with the supervisors who cast recorded 'yes' votes (as read on the record during the meeting).
The board then moved on to public comment, where several residents spoke on conservation and wind-turbine setback issues.
