Boone County commissioners approved personnel changes and the 2026 meeting calendar on Nov. 17.
Human-resources staff presented two items: an updated paid-time-off policy that keeps the existing leave banks but clarifies retirement payout provisions and includes grandfathering for employees with 25 or more years as of Dec. 31, 2025; and a years-of-service policy that provides a one-time $2,000 payout at 20 years, payable in the January following accrual unless the employee retires earlier. Commissioners approved both policies by voice vote.
The board also reviewed and approved a proposed 2026 meeting calendar, noting proposed date adjustments for February, March and the year-end meetings to avoid holiday conflicts. Commissioners voted to adopt the calendar with those revisions. The board handled routine appointments to the economic development commission and other procedural items during the meeting.
Next steps: Human Resources will implement the approved policy language and payroll adjustments; the clerk’s office will publish the 2026 meeting calendar.
