The Medina County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved three resolutions finding that public convenience and welfare require replacement of Bridge No. 26 on Chippewa Road in Lafayette Township, Bridge Nos. 22 and 3 on Friendsville Road in Westfield Township, and Bridge No. 1 on Kennard Road in Harrisville Township.
Dan Becker, representing the county highway engineer’s office, presented the staff recommendation and the three separate findings of necessity. An unidentified commissioner moved to approve the resolutions; the motion was seconded and carried on a roll call in which Commissioners Sweatick, Hambley and Harrison each voted "Yes."
The resolutions authorize the county to proceed under the statutory finding of public convenience and welfare, a procedural step that typically permits design, right-of-way activity and eventual contracting for replacement work. Becker noted the items were routine findings required to advance replacement projects.
The board did not set specific bid dates or contractor allocations during the meeting. Next procedural steps will follow the highway engineer’s office timeline for project design and bidding. The board adjourned to other agenda items and did not return to additional discussion on these bridges.
