Representatives of the Fair Council presented their annual general ledger to the county commissioners on Nov. 18.
Presenters said rental income remained roughly flat compared with prior years, the fair carnival produced about $7,200 less revenue this year (attributed to wet weather), events overall broke even, and repairs rose because of two newly completed structures. Presenters identified utilities as the largest ongoing expense and suggested the county consider modest budget increases to help cover utility costs for fairground operations.
The council opened bids for naming rights on four fairground buildings — including the CIS Show Arena, the two newer structures, and the Edward Jones Community 4‑H Building — with bids to remain open through Feb. 4 and review at the Feb. 4 meeting. The presenters noted naming‑rights contracts are available via the Fair Council Facebook page, email, or the Purdue Extension office.
The presenters also said two volunteer seats on the Fair Council are open and encouraged interested residents to contact the Purdue Extension office.
Commissioners thanked the presenters and noted the fair’s continued success despite weather challenges.
