At the board’s Nov. 17 meeting, Jason Peters of the Marshall County Highway Department presented and received approval for multiple utility permits (including aerial fiber and conduit bores) from providers listed in the record as BrightSpeed, Frontier and NIPSCO.
Peters also asked the board to authorize the president’s signature on a federal-call commitment letter to submit a bridge rehabilitation project on Michigan Road. The bridge number is inconsistently recorded in the meeting transcript (appears as both "2540" and "22540"); the board voted to allow the president to sign and to proceed with the federal submittal.
On a separate item, the board approved an initial agreement with RQAW for a $20,000 intersection study on Dewey Street and South Michigan, with an additional $30,000 on-call allowance referenced in the proposed agreement for other county needs; the board’s approval was conditioned on the county attorney’s review for the $20,000 study commitment and noted that additional use of the on-call funds would require further board action.
Peters also briefed the board on bridge and dam project scheduling, final documentation for EV grant closeout, pavement striping completion and equipment replacement planning.
