The Sylvania Schools Board on Nov. 17 approved a public bid to replace the turf at Northview High School.

District staff told the board the existing turf lasted 12 seasons and the district received eight bids; the lowest responsible bidder was Maumee Bay Turf Center, with a bid the presenter said was $150,000 below the district estimate. A motion to accept the bid was made and seconded; during the meeting a board member asked whether Lourdes — a contractual partner — will pay its 40% share. Staff said that is the understanding. The motion was approved on a roll‑call vote (Adam, Julie, Greg, Kim, Tammy and Dan — all yes).

The turf award was recorded as an approved contract award; the board did not discuss specific funding line‑items at the meeting beyond the presenter’s note about the partner contribution. The district will finalize contract documents with the vendor and partner as the next step.

Separately, Dr. Motley presented policy 54‑60 (graduation requirements) for a first reading; no vote was taken. Board members used the discussion to ask whether a PE waiver can be limited to students with qualifying reasons (employment, internships, College Credit Plus) and how building‑level flex approvals and GPA qualifiers are enforced. Staff said they will report back with Ohio Department of Education guidance and counts on current flex scheduling before any second reading.

Meeting close: with no public speakers at the second public‑comment period, a motion to adjourn was made and adopted by roll call. The board will consider the second reading of graduation requirements and any formal action on waivers after staff returns with the requested information.
