Walnut Grove — The City Council on Thursday approved appointments to the city library board, naming Donnie Tudor, Dominic DeGrono and Margaret Black to serve as trustees.

Council member Morris presented the nominations and said the appointments were compatible with current library operations. "Dominic's a veteran," Morris said of one nominee, and he described Donnie as "a fireman" and Margaret as attentive and willing to serve. Council member 10 moved to appoint the three; the motion was seconded and approved after a voice/hand vote.

Councilors discussed staggering terms so not all trustees would leave at once. "When you're talking with Stacy, would you guys be talking about staggering and putting some on with this amount left and that amount left?" one councilor asked; staff said they would pursue term staggering and consult the city attorney if necessary.

The council also noted that work on a library ordinance has been put on hold. Morris said the ordinance edits are intended to ensure any new rules "do not conflict with the appointments," and staff will review the ordinance language with the city attorney and the clerk before returning with recommendations.
