Wooster — The Wooster City Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2025‑66 on Monday to authorize agreements allocating bed‑tax economic development funds, after first voting to suspend the rules.
Council moved to suspend the rules to allow immediate enactment; the suspension carried 6‑1 on a roll call (Mr. Myers voted no on the suspension). After suspension, the council voted to adopt Resolution 2025‑66. Roll‑call adoption recorded 'Yes' votes from Abernathy, Myers, Jose, Warden, Gaffey, Knappic and Malta.
Council members discussed procedural questions and noted a clerical "scrivener's error" in section one of the resolution that listed award years as 2024 and 2025; a council member said no formal amendment was required to correct the typographical mistake.
Karen Waller, executive director of Main Street Wooster, had earlier told the council that city support from economic development funds represented about a third of her organization's budget and urged continued funding for downtown events. Council members thanked local partners and emphasized the importance of downtown programming.
Vote tally: Suspension of rules 6‑1 (Myers recorded as No); Resolution 2025‑66 adopted by roll‑call with recorded affirmative votes by all members present.
