In addition to the Kenmore school and Circle K approvals, Akron City Council on Nov. 17 approved four other conditional‑use requests and recorded the outcomes for the special meeting.
What the council approved (all recorded as passing 12–0):
• A two‑story 1,080‑square‑foot oversized garage at 1239 Country Club Road (petitioner: Michael Considine). Planning staff and the planning commission recommended approval and the petitioner thanked neighbors for their cooperation.
• A projecting wall sign over the right‑of‑way at 195 South Main Street for Buckeye State Credit Union (3x3‑foot sign placed 13 feet above the right‑of‑way); planning staff and the planning commission recommended approval to aid downtown wayfinding while staff noted a future downtown signage code update could change permitting.
• A two‑story 1,400‑square‑foot oversized garage at 1432–1436 Fowler Avenue for Jody and Jason Himes; the project previously received conditional‑use approval in 2014 but was never completed and was presented again for approval.
Each of these items was presented by planning staff, heard with little or no public opposition at the hearing, recommended by planning staff and the planning commission, and approved by the council with favorable committee reports. Specific permit conditions will be applied per the planning staff recommendations as the applicants move to permitting and construction.
