The Solanco School District Board of School Directors on Nov. 17 honored two retiring members and recognized several students as “students of the month.” Board members presented commemorative gavels and lifetime passes to district events to Craig Chubb, who the board said has served 24 years, and Kirk Kreider, who is also retiring after long service.
“It's been an awesome opportunity to be a part of an awesome team,” Craig Chubb said, accepting the board’s recognition and thanking colleagues and district staff. Board members and the superintendent praised both retirees for their stewardship of district finances, attention to building safety and steady leadership.
The meeting also included student presentations. Teachers introduced middle‑school student Gianna Dobson and Swift Middle School’s Carlos Garcia Romero as students of the month, citing high academic achievement, leadership and peer support. At the high‑school level, teacher Ali Armstrong introduced a student identified as Caden (last name not specified in the transcript) and described that student’s academic performance and character.
The district also announced that student Lila Goode’s artwork was selected for the district’s Christmas card; framed copies will be distributed to district employees and other superintendents in Lancaster County.
The board invited families to join the recognition and arranged for photographs. No board action was required for the presentations; the meeting moved on to routine business after the recognition.
