Jeremy, the district administrator, told the school board the district is beginning to finalize almost $2,000,000 in budget reductions for the 2025–26 school year after an operating referendum failed. He said the reductions will affect about 29 staff members, that some vacancies identified will simply not be filled, and that staff in positions identified for reduction will complete this school year.
Jeremy said the cuts will touch nearly every department, including class sizes, available student supports, transportation and activities, and that district leaders are working with the finance committee to detail next steps. He said the finance committee will review the proposed reductions at its meeting next week.
The administrator asked the board and community to expect districtwide impacts as staffing and service adjustments are finalized. No formal board action on specific layoffs or role eliminations was taken at the meeting; Jeremy described the reductions as a planning stage and committed to keeping the board informed.
The administration also noted some positions identified for reduction are currently vacant and will not be refilled, which will reduce the immediate personnel impact. The board did not take a formal vote on final reductions during the session; staff said further details will come as planning proceeds and as the finance committee completes its review.
