At the Nov. 17 meeting, the Rockwell Trustees voted to open the school grant application window for the coming school year from Dec. 1 through Jan. 30, directing staff to notify schools and prepare materials for January review.
Staff member Amy and purchasing office representative Abel Ambassador reported that, of previously approved grant funds, $2,516.25 remained unspent; Amy said some teachers were still completing purchases and she estimated about another $1,000 would be spent by the end of the year. Trustees agreed to keep tracking outstanding purchases and to include updates on future agendas.
Trustees discussed application timing during the December break and agreed longer application availability would help teachers complete materials and requests. The board instructed staff (Brenda) to send notification emails and compile application materials so trustees could review submissions at the board’s next meeting the week of Feb. 9, with the typical 3 p.m. meeting time.
The motion to open the application period was put on the floor and seconded; trustees approved it by voice vote. The transcript records the motion and vote but does not show a roll‑call tally or detailed scoring of applications; trustees indicated they would segregate funds from the investment account to ensure funds would be available for grants.
