The Infant Mortality Review Committee met Sept. 6, 2025, and approved the August meeting minutes before voting not to enter an executive session and setting its next meeting for Oct. 1, 2025.
Co-chair Shana Laflamme, a nurse consultant and co-chair of the committee, opened the meeting with roll call and attendee introductions that included clinicians and agency representatives from the Department of Public Health, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, the Department of Social Services, Connecticut Children's Hospital and the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
After confirming there were no edits to the August minutes, Laflamme asked for a motion to accept them; a motion and a second were recorded and the minutes were accepted.
Laflamme launched a poll on whether to move into executive session, noting some members had trouble submitting votes via Microsoft Teams. Reporting the result, she said, "So right now, we're at a 67% no, 33% yes," and the committee did not go into executive session.
There were no public comments during the designated comment period.
Laflamme also announced administrative items: "I will be sending out new confidentiality forms tomorrow," and reminded members that many are approaching their one-year commitment to the committee. She confirmed the next committee meeting is scheduled for Oct. 1, 2025.
A motion to adjourn was made and seconded; the meeting ended with members thanked for their attendance.
