The Cornwall Central School District Board of Education recognized three staff members for tenure, heard schoolwide updates from student representatives, and received a superintendent report that included details about the district’s superintendent search.
Superintendent Megan Narginio congratulated the three staff who were recognized for tenure and praised their "compassion and dedication to our children," noting adaptability and varied instructional approaches across classrooms. "Their flexibility and varied approach to meet the needs of our students is incredibly impressive," she said.
Student representatives reported highlights from across the district: Willow Avenue Elementary hosted a Halloween parade and a food drive for Saint Mary Ann Cope Parish’s food pantry; Cornwall and Hudson student council organized a food drive and Veterans Day classroom events; Leroy students observed Native American Heritage Month and visited the Purple Heart Museum; the middle school collected Thanksgiving basket donations and honored veterans; and Cornwall Central High School noted a successful fall play, multicultural night, and several teams advancing to sectional and state-level competitions.
Board president provided an update on the superintendent search, saying the district partnered with search firm Districtwise; public feedback forms and a survey are available on the district website; the application period is open through November 30; firm interviews will begin in December, with board interviews planned around February and a goal of announcing a candidate by March.
Consent agenda: The board approved routine consent items in a single motion after one member announced a general abstention from the consent motion rather than pulling specific items.
The meeting closed with board members offering Thanksgiving wishes and congratulations to students and staff.
