Near the end of the Nov. 12 joint session a resident urged broad participation in a regional transportation committee meeting where the King County Metro general manager will speak, saying Covington lacks local transit connections needed for residents to reach health, social‑service and employment appointments.
The participant (identified as Joe in the session) said King County Metro informed the city it ‘‘doesn’t plan to build anything out here for 10 to 25 years,’’ and urged residents and officials to attend next Wednesday’s regional meeting (available by Zoom) to press the agency to reconsider or explain how Covington can access existing regional services. He framed the issue as critical because residents cannot use services if they cannot reach them.
Why it matters: Councilmembers and commissioners said transportation barriers limit residents’ ability to use countywide services the commission and nonprofits depend on. The meeting did not include a Metro representative; participants recommended a coordinated community presence at the regional committee meeting to convey local demand.

"If King County doesn't know it, they won't do it," the participant said, urging coordinated testimony at the meeting.
Next steps: Attendees were encouraged to join the regional transportation committee meeting to make the case directly to Metro leadership. The council did not take a formal vote or issue a directed letter at the session.
