The Carpinteria City Architectural Review Board voted to grant final approval to the Smith residence addition and remodel on Calle Ocho at its Nov. 13, 2025 meeting. Chair Blakemore moved to approve the final plans and a board member seconded; the approval carried on a voice vote.

Vice Chair O'Connor and other members emphasized that the pool equipment should be fully screened from neighbors.

Chair Blakemore praised the revised design, saying, "I think it's a much nicer project this go around than what we saw last time."
