The Marana Unified School District Governing Board on Nov. 14 approved the district’s 2024–25 Annual Financial Report and a package of personnel and capital actions, including supplemental staff stipends and a construction contract for a new gymnasium at Twin Peaks K‑8.
Mr. Bogart presented the annual financial report, saying the district recorded "a little over $117,000,000" in maintenance and operations revenue; unrestricted capital was identified at $4,500,000, auxiliary operations $1,400,000, student activities $1,000,000 and bond activity $50,000,000. "Last year, we expensed over a quarter billion dollars into our community," Bogart said during his presentation. After a brief question about the district’s bond balance, the board moved, seconded and approved the AFR and related submissions.
The board also approved instructional improvement supplemental stipends funded through Indian gaming revenues. Bogart said the stipend allocation this year is $250 per certified employee, prorated by FTE. Separately, the board approved Proposition 123 payments calculated at $188.17 to be paid twice (December 2025 and May 2026), a total of $376.34 per FTE as presented.
On staffing, the board approved the addition of two Title I paraprofessionals at Roadrunner Elementary to strengthen small‑group instruction after kindergarten sections were consolidated. District staff (Mr. Bade) said these positions will be funded entirely through Title I resources and that the district will post the two positions for hire.
Capital work approved at the meeting included a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) of $7,297,521 for a 16,500‑square‑foot gymnasium at Twin Peaks K‑8. Mr. Kolodowski described the facility as including regulation courts, bleachers, stage, offices and support spaces; the district plans to fund the project from bond, adjacent ways and civic center funds. He said the district hopes to break ground next month with a targeted opening next fall.
The board also approved demolition‑related reductions to Ironwood Elementary’s square footage (removal of two modular buildings totaling 2,860 sq ft) and authorized an e‑sports coach at Mountain View High School with a salary‑and‑benefits cost of $3,228.12 funded via tax credit dollars.
All votes recorded during the meeting were carried by voice vote with no roll‑call tallies recorded in the public minutes.
The board listed future meeting dates of Dec. 11, Jan. 8 and Feb. 5 and adjourned the session.
