The Smyrna Town Council approved an annexation and R‑3 zoning ordinance for a 21.7‑acre tract at 5198 Lee Road after a public hearing and staff presentation. Kevin, planning staff, told the council the request is consistent with the land‑use plan’s gateway character and that the town would provide municipal services upon annexation. He said a sewer main extension of approximately 1,200 feet would be required to connect the site to the Olive Branch sewer line, and that the cost of that extension would fall to the developer.

Planning Commission and staff recommended approval and no members of the public registered formal opposition at the hearing. The council approved the annexation and zoning ordinance following a motion.

"The planning commission did review this request to recommend approval. Staff would also recommend approval," Kevin said during his presentation.

Council did not attach additional special conditions beyond the standard requirement that off‑site sewer easements and extensions be secured prior to development.
