District staff reported the middle school construction is moving into closeout: parking lots and sidewalks are installed, punch-list items remain, a monument sign was recently put in place, and the softball field installation will begin the following week. Staff said the original goal of finishing closeout by the end of the calendar year is unlikely and that final closeout work is now expected in 2026.
Project staff also described related traffic work: a contractor will use an existing turn-lane area temporarily as a laydown site, and turn-lane and signal work on Wolf Pen / Eagles Way is expected to continue with a probable completion timeline around March 2026. Staff noted some utility and widening work along Eagles Way to support the new ingress/egress geometry.
On business operations, the board approved upgrades to HVAC controllers at Pattison and Mulberry, explaining current controllers for VAV boxes and air handlers are outdated and unsupported and replacement parts are no longer available. The motion to approve the HVAC upgrades passed unanimously on roll call.
Why it matters: Closeout timing affects contractor warranties, final payments and facility availability; the HVAC upgrades are maintenance investments the district said are needed to keep buildings functioning and supported by current equipment.
