Columbia Borough Council approved a special event application from the Columbia Merchants Association to host the annual Santa parade on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, beginning at 8 a.m. along the customary route ending at 3rd and Locust Street. Council also voted to waive the $50 application fee and a $10 late-submission fee.

Councilperson Kaufman moved for approval and Councilperson Murphy seconded. Council members spoke in favor of waiving the fees, citing the event's benefit for children and its linkage to Small Business Saturday and the holiday tree lighting. The motion carried by voice vote with no recorded opposition.

Council did not place additional conditions on the event during the meeting; staff will handle final logistics and permit documentation.
