During the consent agenda call, Regent Hensley asked that the draft bylaws for the newly created Center for Intellectual Freedom be removed from the consent agenda for separate consideration.
Regent Kramer said the draft bylaws were a "good start" but expressed concern about structural elements and recommended the first advisory council meeting have the opportunity to review and amend the bylaws before final board approval.
Regent Hensley moved to table the bylaws to allow discussion at the advisory council meeting scheduled for the 18th; Regent Kramer seconded. The board took a roll call vote with Regents Demko, Kramer, Hensley, Rouse, Gipple, Jaden and Bates voting "yes." The chair announced, "The bylaws are tabled."
Board members said they wanted to ensure the bylaws are durable for the long term and to give the advisory council its first opportunity to weigh in; no further action on the bylaws was taken at this meeting.
