Board President Bates opened the meeting with a remembrance of former Regent Larry McKibben, noting his six years of service and advocacy for students. Later, the board recognized Wendy Wintersteen in her final board meeting as Iowa State University president and read a resolution summarizing her nearly five‑decade career, fundraising achievements (more than $1.5 billion in the Forever True campaign), and campus capital projects begun or completed during her tenure.

Wintersteen described efficiency initiatives at Iowa State and thanked the board and colleagues; the board invited applause and offered its best wishes on her retirement.
