Hubbardston — At its Nov. 12 meeting the Town of Hubbardston Board of Health recapped a successful community recycling day, discussed an approximately $980 bill for electronics recycling and reviewed several event and contractor permits, including a one‑day Farmers Market permit.
Chair (name not recorded) told members the recycling event ran from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., attracted four volunteers plus two certified members and two teenagers who helped during the event, and that the event collected substantial metal and culvert materials that required DPW follow‑up. “The recycling day went well. The weather turned out to be just fine,” the chair said.
The board reviewed a quoted electronics‑recycling cost of about $980 to haul and process items left under the library and at the recycling site. Chair (S1) said the town could use current recycling budget funds to pay for one pickup if the DPW includes the load, and asked staff to consult with Travis (DPW) about logistics and whether a temporary construction dumpster for up to two months would be needed.
Separately, the board reviewed a one‑day permit request for the Huddleston Historical Society Farmers Market scheduled for Nov. 23. The chair disclosed a conflict and said, “I cannot approve this because I am the market manager.” She said she will act as the ServSafe person on site the day of the market and asked the two other members to review the application and finalize the approval.
The board also reviewed an excavation and construction installer permit filed by Matthew Baca (submitted with Leominster permits) and noted that the applicant’s current installer license expires Dec. 31; if he will perform work in 2026 he must reapply before the end of the year.
