The Ojai Historic Preservation Commission took three short formal actions on Nov. 13 that adjust meeting procedure and advance internal business.
First, after discussing practical problems with the three-minute speaker timer interrupting exchanges, the commission voted to discontinue the timer for the interim and to revisit the question in March. Chair McKinnon moved to suspend the timer and Commissioner Visascha seconded; the roll call vote was recorded as unanimous.
Second, the commission moved and seconded approval of two sets of minutes (Aug. 14 and Sept. 11) after discussing a series of clerical corrections and clarifications to role titles and wording concerning a prior awards agenda item. Commissioner Walker moved to approve the minutes and the motion carried on roll call.
Third, a commissioner proposed creation of a new award to honor Edward Drummond Libby's City Beautiful legacy. The commission voted to direct staff to examine logistics and to place the concept on a future agenda, with staff to research the council-level steps required to add a formal award and any permissions needed to use Libby's name.
Vote details (as recorded in meeting roll calls): minutes approval and the timer suspension were carried unanimously; the award idea passed as a motion to add the item to the next available agenda and to have staff research necessary council procedures. No binding city-council action was taken at this meeting; staff will bring options to the council if needed.
