Legislative staff presented two business-affiliated appointments to the workforce development board: Jessica Kolodzie, an HR professional at CMI, and Nancy Sullivan, an HR representative at Nucor. Committee members approved the appointments and discussed the local workforce plan.
The committee also approved PL1, the five-year Workforce Innovation and Opportunity local plan, which officials said mirrors the prior plan but places more emphasis on manufacturing, agriculture and trade occupations now in demand. PL2 authorized a transfer of contractual funds into seasonal-employee salaries for youth paid-work experience programs; staff said the youth programs are 100% grant funded and higher enrollment requires shifting funds to seasonal salaries.
Votes: Both resolutions were moved and approved by voice vote during the meeting.
