Public Works presented change order number 1 for the emergency management/fire remodel project, requesting $105,901.69 for additional concrete paving, replacement of the drive approach, added curb and gutter, extra parking stalls and flagpoles.

John Ellerman of Public Works detailed the line items and said performing the concrete and drive adjustments now would be more economical and create a finished appearance rather than returning later to retrofit. Commissioners questioned why the items had been left off initial plans and asked for an explanation about oversight and budget control; Ellerman said the omission was tied to trying to manage the overall project budget during design and that change orders are sometimes necessary as projects evolve.

After discussion the commission made and seconded a motion to approve change order #1 for $105,901.69 and approved it by voice vote.
