Appointments and personnel: The board filled a vacancy in District 8 by appointing John Stroll and administered the oath of office. It approved hiring William Schmidt as the county zoning administrator.
Courts and proclamations: The board adopted a resolution to set juror compensation and approved a proclamation designating December as Drug and Drunk Driving Prevention Month following a presentation by probation officer Ryan Ambrose.
Contracts and procurement: The board approved a CERMA renewal (liability/workers’ compensation), cybersecurity insurance renewal, a Pareto health-insurance renewal with reduced premiums and improved benefits for 2026, and a managed IT services contract with MyTech Solutions at $6,000 per month. Members discussed procurement steps and whether formal bidding should be pursued for IT services in the future.
Facilities and grants: The board approved lease agreements with Shelby County Community Services (storage and EMA office) and accepted HSIP grant funding and local matching for a cape-seal resurfacing project on County Highway 19.
Claims and liquor licenses: The board approved claims and renewed multiple local liquor licenses for FY25–26.
