The Barnes Lake Steering Committee discussed governance, scheduling and finances at its November meeting, approving minutes and setting a preliminary calendar for 2026. Chair Linnea Madison called the roll and members debated how much of the committee’s audio/video to post publicly after the city directed committees to produce truncated "action minutes" rather than verbatim minutes.
Minutes and recordings: Speaker 3 raised a direct concern that posting the full meeting video while publishing only truncated minutes was contradictory and asked staff to consult executive administration and legal. "If we literally were just told to not do full minutes anymore... why would you post the full video and then yet have the only record be a truncated version of it?" Speaker 3 said; staff agreed to follow up.
Calendar and walkabout: Members agreed to a tentative 2026 meeting cadence and deadlines: January 14, March 4, May 13, a September 9 walkabout (field inspection) and a November meeting (committee noted some dates might be adjusted for member availability). The walkabout will be treated as a public meeting for purposes of capturing input and brief notes.
Budget and assessments: Committee members reviewed the district budget and collection status. "The budget right now shows that out of 21,000 that we've only collected 7,300," Speaker 3 said; staff explained that finance manages collections and agreed to request an updated figure.
Newsletter and future business: The committee set a newsletter production timeline with article deadline March 20 and discussed embedding photos and plant-identification guidance for neighbors. Members agreed to ask Scott for a written treatment report for January and to reconvene as necessary if issues arise before scheduled meetings.
Source and provenance: Opening remarks, agenda review, finance update, meeting-schedule discussion, and minutes/recording debate.
