The Cottage Grove Utility Commission on Nov. 12 approved the 2026 sanitary sewer equipment replacement schedule and a recommended annual contribution to the sewer replacement fund.

The director told the commission the update reflects required planning under the village’s permit and included an annual contribution figure. “Included in the agenda today, is a memo included for the sewer replacement fund as part of our WPDS permit,” the director said, adding the annual contribution is $97,750 to be set aside for future sanitary sewer pumps, lift station equipment and SCADA replacements.

Chair moved to approve the replacement fund contribution for the Cottage Grove Sewer Utility and the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.

Why it matters: The annual contribution provides dedicated funds for predictable equipment replacement and helps the village meet permitting and maintenance obligations.

What’s next: Staff will implement the contribution as part of the 2026 budget and report back on fund performance and future replacement priorities.
