The record is of a Veterans Day breakfast and student program hosted at Mount Vernon Middle School. Students, staff and community volunteers welcomed veterans, presented a ceremonial table honoring missing service members, and shared musical performances and essays celebrating military service. The program included a posting of colors and the national anthem, student remarks by eighth graders Aubrey Holloway and Lucy Hunson, an explanation of the symbolic POW/MIA table, a band performance led by Miss Jen Kira, recognition of student artwork (including work by Sutton Zimmerman and Evelyn Moss), and readings by Elks Lodge essay contest winners Annie Purcell, Kelly McAllen and Marcella Barrett. Organizers thanked donors who provided food and beverages and invited attendees to an outdoor concluding ceremony.
